Rookie Roundup: Online betting, cryptocurrency, a gym and some soap

This year’s roster of first-time Big Game advertisers has some serious potential. Will all of them make a run at a SpotBowl title? No, but a few might. Here’s what we know so far about the rookies:

BOOKING.COM – The online travel site will make its Big Game debut with a 30-second spot in the 4th quarter starring Idris Elba.

CAESAR’S SPORTSBOOK – With its first Big Game spot, the betting service will feature J.B. Smoove as Julius Caesar, Halle Berry as Cleopatra and Eli, Peyton, Archie and Cooper Manning as themselves. (That’s right, the entire Manning family. Even Cooper.)

CARVANA – The car buying site makes its Big Game debut with an ad featuring an oversharing mom that can’t stop talking about her experience with the site. Check out that pre-release above.

CRYPTO.COM – The cryptocurrency buying website will appear for the first time in the game. Details are unknown, but previous ads have featured Matt Damon.

FTX – The cryptocurrency exchange platform will make its Big Game debut with a spot that will educate viewers about crypto and the safety of the currency.

HOLOGIC – The first big game spot for the medical tech company will star Mary J. Blige and will highlight women’s health with an emphasis on early detection and treatment.

IRISH SPRING – The soap will make its first appearance in the game with a spot aimed at introducing the brand to younger audiences.

PLANET FITNESS – The gym makes its debut on the Big Game stage with an ad featuring Lindsay Lohan suddenly becoming happier and more productive thanks to regular workouts at Planet Fitness.

RAKUTEN – The cash-back platform will make its Big Game debut with a Casino Royale-themed spot starring Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham.

SAM’S CLUB – Kevin Hart will star in the retailer’s first Big Game ad. In it, Hart goes shopping and thinks his VIP experience is because of his celebrity status when it’s actually an experience available to all Sam’s Club app users.

WALLBOX – The company, which makes electric vehicle chargers, will make its first-ever Big Game appearance. The spot stars a real-life lightning strike survivor who goes to great lengths to avoid electricity.
