Facebook joins the big game for the first time; Taps Sly Stallone and Chris Rock as stars

With 2.4 BILLION monthly active users (32 percent of the Earth’s population), does Facebook really NEED to advertise? Apparently it does, because the king of all social networks will make its big game debut on February 2 with a 60-second ad.

The ad stars the intriguing combination of Sylvester Stallone and Chris Rock. Footage leaked by Stallone on Instagram shows the Italian Stallion recreating the iconic scene in “Rocky,” in which he runs up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The commercial will promote Facebook’s Groups feature, an aspect of Facebook that offers a more intimate social networking experience based on shared interests.

“The spot drives home the message that, for whatever you rock, there is a Facebook group for you,” a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement.
